Today via Instagram Lil Wayne announced his upcoming album Funeral set to reach streaming platforms on January 31st. His post announcing the project came complete with a video visualizer of the album artwork showcasing a crafty typography that, if flipped, reads Lil Wayne. Along with the visualizer we hear a snippet of one of the album’s tracks where Tunechi harmonizes, “Welcome to the funeral, closed casket as usual.”

Lil Wayne had spoken about the upcoming project back in August of 2019 with Q93’s Wild Wayne stating, “My albums always done, It just takes Mack to come in there to rack up a couple of songs and name them. — I work everyday.” Well, after a few months of tweaking the project just right and getting it prepped for it’s release we will finally have a new Wayne album with an extremely fast turnaround time from his last release Tha Carter V which came three years after it’s predecessor Free Weezy Album

Funeral also comes complete with a full collection of merch including hoodies, crewnecks and multiple physical copies of the album which you can check out here.

There has not been a tour announced for Funeral as of yet, but Weezy is performing in Chicago on March 28th. Back in September 2019 Wayne had multiple complications while on tour with Blink 182 resulting in three canceled performances in under a month. He had blamed plane issues as one of the reasons for his absence, but prior to that he had cancelled due to their not being enough hip-hop fans in attendance as well as getting kicked out of the Ritz-Carlton in St. Louis with police getting involved.

Despite these complications we should be expecting a tour announcement to accompany Funeral as it would only make sense, the Dead in LA will keep on the lookout for that and be sure to have dates posted in an updated article at the time. For now, be sure to follow Lil Wayne on Instagram and Twitter and pre-order Funeral set to release on all streaming platforms Friday, January 31st.
